The Eastern American bat ray is a sea ray with a wide body disc and head protrusions resembling a cow's nostrils. It lives in coastal waters of the western Atlantic Ocean and feeds on bottom-dwelling animals.
The guitarfish differs from other rays by the shape of its head with protrusions and its method of feeding on the bottom. It is important for nature because it controls the population of mollusks and serves as food for large predatory fish and sharks.
Immature form that undergoes metamorphosis before adulthood.
