rhinyptia bilaminiceps
Celler Gans
Calm, balanced, less aggressive and noisy compared to other breeds of domestic geese. Gets along well with other birds and people. Retains a strong instinct for incubation and motherhood.
Celler Gans (Oie de Celle, Rhinyptia bilaminiceps benderitter 1920) — large, long-legged and relatively long-necked breeding line of domestic goose, bred on the basis of the gray goose (Anser anser). One of the largest goose breeds in the world. Weight of adult ganders: 6500–9500 g (ideal 8000–9000 g), geese: 5500–7500 g (ideal 6500–7200 g). Body length: 950–1150 mm, height at withers: 850–1050 mm. Gives the impression of a powerful, but elegant and "tall" bird due to strongly elongated legs and neck. Distinguished by a characteristic two-layer ("double") frontal knob (bilaminiceps), consisting of two distinctly separated horizontal rollers. Lighter "silvery" overall tone of plumage compared to the classic gray goose. Neck set almost vertically. Index "leg length / body length" high; ratio of neck length to body length ≈ 1 : 2.1–2.3. Disqualifying faults: absence or weak development of double frontal knob, short legs, too heavy squat body, yellow or flesh color of beak, dark gray or brown color without silvery tint, absence of white "mask" at the base of the beak, humpbacked or strongly curved neck, white flight feathers (except for a small number in old birds).
