pebbled butterfly
Chaetodon multicinctus
The multibar butterflyfish is a bright yellow fish with black vertical stripes. It lives on coral reefs in the central Pacific near the Hawaiian Islands.
The multibar butterflyfish differs from related species by a greater number of thin black stripes on its body. It is important for the reef because it eats excess coral polyps and serves as food for larger fish.
