Calm, hardy, less aggressive than other Bactrian lines. Well adapted to the extreme drought and cold of the Alashan desert. High stress resistance, strong herd instinct.
Alxa (Chameau d’Alashan, Alashan Bactrian) — compact, elegant breeding line of the Bactrian camel, developed in Inner Mongolia. Distinguished by a light, dry build, fine bone structure, small wedge-shaped head, very small ears (8–11 cm), long curved neck with a mane, compact body, high cone-shaped clearly separated humps, predominance of light desert colors (beige, sandy, cream, light-reddish). Height at withers 1700–1950 mm (avg. 1800–1850), body length 2600–3100 mm, male weight 650000–950000 g (avg. 780000–850000), female weight 500000–720000 g (avg. 580000–650000). Format index 1.55–1.65. Not allowed: coarse head, long ears >140 mm, fused humps, sagging abdomen, black/dark-brown/piebald color.
