Q'ara
Q'ara
Calm, obedient, less fearful and more social compared to other types of llamas. Gets along well in a herd, shows moderate vigilance, low level of aggression. Strong instinct to protect territory and herd.
Q'ara (Qara, Kh'ara) — a wool-producing breeding line of the domestic llama, developed in the high Andes (Bolivia, Peru). One of the largest and most massive lines: male weight 135–180 kg, females 110–155 kg; height at withers 1100–1300 mm; total body length 2100–2600 mm. Build is sturdy and elongated (stretch index 108–118), less "square" than Ch'aku. Head relatively small, dry, wedge-shaped with an elongated muzzle. Ears long (140–190 mm), sickle-shaped. Neck long (650–850 mm), muscular. Body deep, chest wide (girth 1400–1700 mm). Limbs long and strong. Tail short (180–280 mm). The main distinguishing feature is the maximally long and fine wool (250–420 mm on the side and back, record up to 450 mm), dense undercoat, covering almost the entire body. Bred mainly in solid colors: black, dark brown, brown, dark gray, steel, white. Piebald, spotted, and guanaco-like colors are not allowed.
