Galbiin goviin ulaan
Calm, hardy, adapted to the extreme conditions of the Gobi Desert. High stress resistance, moderate sociability in the herd, low aggressiveness towards humans. Strong instinct for self-preservation and foraging in conditions of sparse vegetation.
Galbiin Goviin Ulaan — specialized meat-wool line of the Bactrian camel, bred in Mongolia. Large, strong build animals with bright red ("red") color. Height at withers: males 170–195 cm, females 165–180 cm; body length 240–280 cm; weight of males 650–850 kg (up to 950 kg), females 520–680 kg; birth weight 35–45 kg. Head relatively small, dry, with wide slightly convex forehead and elongated muzzle. Ears small (9–12 cm), erect. Eyes large, dark brown. Neck long (110–140 cm), powerful, with "collar" in males. Body deep, wide, barrel-shaped; chest girth 210–250 cm. Two high (up to 60–75 cm), massive, elastic humps with small distance between them. Limbs strong, foreleg 110–130 cm. Tail 45–60 cm with tassel. Coat double: dense undercoat and long coarse guard hair (15–35 cm on neck, shoulders, humps and thighs). Dominant color — bright red of all shades from light copper to brick-red. According to the standard, only red color is allowed; white spots (except a star on the forehead), black, brown, gray, cream and white colors are not allowed. Differs from the basic species by more saturated red color, large size, massiveness and long coarse guard hair on the upper part of the neck and humps. Massiveness index 92–98 %, stretch index 135–145 %.
