Zapornia nigra
Miller's rail is a small flightless bird from the crake family. It lived only on the island of Tahiti and became completely extinct in the 19th century due to introduced cats and rats.
Miller's rail differed from other crakes by its complete inability to fly and very dark plumage. The species is important for understanding how quickly island birds disappear after the arrival of alien predators.
