czech goose
Чешский гусь (Česká husa)
Calm, friendly, less aggressive than many other goose breeds. Gets along well with other domestic birds and people. Has moderate vigilance but is not prone to excessive noise. Retains some instincts of the wild gray goose but is strongly domesticated.
Czech goose — a compact, light and very active breed, developed on the basis of the greylag goose (Anser anser). One of the smallest breeds of domestic geese. Live weight of ganders 3500–4500 g (ideal 3800–4200 g), geese 2800–3700 g (ideal 3000–3400 g). Body length 700–850 mm in ganders, 650–780 mm in geese. Height at withers 550–680 mm. Build strong, elegant, with nearly horizontal body carriage (35–45°). Head small (90–110 mm), dry, with straight or slightly convex profile. Beak short (44–58 mm), bright orange or orange-red. Neck of medium length (220–280 mm), slender, carried high. Wings short, wingspan 1350–1550 mm. Legs short (shank 75–92 mm), bright orange. Tail short (140–170 mm), broad. Plumage dense and thick. Standard colors: grey (wild type, with scaly pattern and dark stripe along the neck), white, pied. Differs from the greylag goose by smaller size, shorter sturdy beak, horizontal body carriage, absence of a knob at the base of the beak, and brighter color of beak and legs.
