Jumbo Oranda (Jumbo Oranda goldfish)
Jumbo Oranda (Jumbo Oranda goldfish)
Calm, peaceful, sedentary. Swims slowly in the lower and middle layers of water. Gets along well with other calm breeds. Weakly expressed food competition.
Jumbo Oranda (ジャンボオランダ / ジャンボシシガシラ) — one of the largest breeding forms of goldfish with a strongly enlarged fleshy hood (wen). Body length (without tail) 180–280 mm (record up to 320 mm), weight 250–850 g (typically 350–650 g). Body short, wide, ovoid or almost spherical, with pronounced humpback of the back; body depth 65–75 % of length. Head large, wide, with an extremely developed bumpy hood 15–25 mm thick, covering the top of the head, cheeks and often gill covers, divided by a median groove. Eyes 8–12 mm in diameter, slightly convex. Mouth lower, small. Body barrel-shaped, back strongly arched. Dorsal fin high (35–55 mm), triangular; pectoral wide (35–50 mm); anal double (25–40 mm); caudal double veiled, lobes 60–110 mm, angle 110–140°. Scales small, shiny. Main colors: Red Cap (white body, bright red hood), Red, Black, Calico, Panda, Chocolate. Differs from standard Oranda by larger size, more massive hood and shorter thick body; from Lionhead — by the presence of a developed dorsal fin. Japanese-Chinese standard: length:body height 1.35–1.55:1, body length:tail 2.2–2.6:1; hood symmetrical, covers ≥70 % of the head.
