The Sri Lankan frogmouth is a medium-sized nocturnal bird that lives only on the island of Sri Lanka. During the day, it sits motionless on the ground or a branch, where its brown plumage perfectly blends with dry leaves.
The Sri Lankan nightjar differs from other nightjars in its special dark coloration and white markings only in males. It is beneficial for forests because it eats a large number of insects every evening.
