The Daurian pika is a small animal the size of a rat. It lives in steppes and rocky slopes of Transbaikalia, Mongolia, and Northern China, where it squeaks loudly, warning neighbors of danger.
The Daurian pika differs from other pikas by shorter ears and living in open steppes. It serves as important prey for foxes, ferrets, and birds of prey and helps disperse plant seeds.
