syrman goby
Ponticola syrman
The Syrman goby is a small bottom-dwelling fish from the goby family. It lives in desalinated areas of the Black, Azov, and Caspian Seas, as well as in the mouths of rivers flowing into them.
The Syrman goby differs from related species in the shape of its head and the pattern of dark spots on its body. It plays an important role in the ecosystem as a consumer of small invertebrates and as food for larger fish.
