The Andaman nightjar is a medium-sized nocturnal bird that lives only on the Andaman Islands. During the day it sits motionless on the ground or a branch, where its spotted plumage completely blends with the surrounding leaves and bark.
The Andaman nightjar differs from other nightjars by its special pattern on the wings and its limited distribution only on the Andaman Islands. It is beneficial for nature because every evening it destroys a large number of harmful insects.
