Brachyramphus brevirostris
The short-billed little auk is a small seabird with a short thick beak. It lives in cold coastal waters of the northern Pacific Ocean, swims and dives well for prey.
The short-billed little auk differs from other auks with its very short beak and spotted gray-white coloration, which camouflages it well against rocks and ice. The bird is important for nature as part of the Arctic marine food chain and as an indicator of glacier and marine ecosystem health.
