The Piura chat-tyrant is a small bird of the tyrant flycatcher family. It inhabits only the dry regions of northwestern Peru.
The Piura chat-tyrant differs from related tyrant flycatchers by a distinctive combination of a white eyebrow and yellowish belly. It is beneficial as it consumes numerous insects and serves as part of the food chain in dry mountainous regions.
