The longspine porcupinefish is a marine fish with long sharp spines all over its body. In danger, it quickly gulps water, swells into a ball shape, and raises its spines to protect itself from predators.
The longspine porcupinefish differs from other pufferfish with very long spines and characteristic black spots. It is important for nature because it regulates the population of marine invertebrates on reefs.
Legendary longevity: over 100 years. Galapagos tortoises, Greenland sharks, ocean quahogs celebrate with family once every 4 years
Immature form that undergoes metamorphosis before adulthood.
