Himantura chaophraya is a large freshwater ray with a wide flat body and a very long tail. It lives on the bottom of rivers in Southeast Asia and can grow up to two meters in width.
Himantura chaophraya differs from marine rays by living only in fresh water and its enormous size. As a large predator, it helps maintain balance in river ecosystems by eating weak animals.
Immature form that undergoes metamorphosis before adulthood.
