german double crested trumpeter
Немецкий двугребневый трубач (Deutsche Doppelkuppige Trommeltaube)
Calm, peaceful, pronounced decorative and exhibition character. High vocalization — characteristic loud, prolonged and rhythmic 'drum' cooing (trumpet). Gets along well with other pigeons, non-aggressive. Strong instinct for incubation and raising offspring.
Medium-sized, compact, stocky breed of domestic pigeons. Gives the impression of a short, broad and rounded "ball" with well-developed chest musculature and a characteristic double crest on the head. Ideal proportions: height, width and depth of the body are approximately equal (cubic shape). Head length with crests — approximately 1/3 of the total length. The main distinguishing feature is two symmetrical dense crests: frontal (visor, height 18–25 mm, covers the forehead and base of the beak) and occipital (shell, diameter 45–60 mm, rosette-shaped on the nape). More compact build than English and French trumpeter pigeons. Plumage dense, thick, soft especially in the crests. Acceptable colors: black, red, yellow, blue, silver, white, pied, tiger, marble. Disqualifying faults: absence/reduction of crests, open forehead, long body, bare shanks, non-orange/red eyes.
