The false sand shark is a small deep-sea predator up to 1.2 meters long. It has very large eyes, sharp teeth, and a streamlined body for fast swimming in the open ocean.
The false sand shark differs from other sharks by its huge eyes and unique embryonic feeding method on eggs. It plays an important role in the ocean by controlling the population of small fish and squids.
