Maylandia callainos is a small bright blue cichlid from Lake Malawi in Africa. It lives among rocks in shallow waters and belongs to the mbuna fish group.
Maylandia callainos differs from related cichlids with its very bright solid blue coloration of males. It is important for nature because it controls the growth of algae on rocks and serves as food for larger fish.
