The edible dormouse, or fat dormouse, is a medium-sized rodent with a long fluffy tail. It lives in trees in the forests of Europe and Western Asia, and hibernates for a long time in winter.
The dormouse differs from other dormice in its large size and very long hibernation up to seven months. It helps the forest by dispersing plant seeds and serves as prey for owls and other predators.
