coyote
High caution, territoriality, pronounced hunting instinct, sociality in family groups or packs, tendency to nocturnal activity, pronounced timidity towards humans, high intelligence and adaptability
Coyote-like morphology in hybrid lines and experimental breeds obtained from crossing coyotes (Canis latrans) with dog breeds (parent species Canis lupus familiaris). Light, slender, long-legged animal with a "wild" appearance. Height at withers 580–750 mm, body length (without tail) 800–1050 mm, weight 7–25 kg. Head narrow wedge-shaped, muzzle sharp (55–58% of skull length 180–220 mm). Ears large erect triangular (height 90–130 mm). Eyes almond-shaped obliquely set, color from bright yellow to light amber (diameter 18–22 mm). Coat double: dense undercoat and coarse guard hair 50–110 mm long. Acceptable colors: gray-brown agouti (classic), silver (silver), red (red), black melanistic, white/cream. Body light with narrow chest (depth 280–340 mm, girth 480–620 mm), back straight, abdomen tucked up. Legs high, tail long fluffy (270–400 mm), lowered or horizontal, does not curl. Differs from domestic dog by lighter bone structure, sharp muzzle, large ears, high legs, characteristic agouti color. Proportions: height at withers to body length ≈ 1:1.05–1.12. Not allowed: heavy bone structure, drooping ears, short muzzle, round eyes, short legs, curled tail, merle, blue eyes.
