Bloodfin tetra is a small schooling freshwater fish from South America. It has a silvery body and bright red fins, for which it got its name.
The blood-finned tetra differs from close species with very bright red fins that are visible even in murky water. In nature, it serves as an important link in the food chain, eating small invertebrates and becoming prey for larger fish.
Immature form that undergoes metamorphosis before adulthood.
