scissortail rasbora
Rasbora trilineata
The scissor-tailed rasbora is a small schooling freshwater fish up to 15 centimeters long. It lives in rivers and streams of Southeast Asia and got its name for the tail fin that opens like scissor blades when swimming.
The scissor-tailed rasbora differs from other rasboras by three distinct black lines on the body and a special scissor-like tail. It serves as food for larger fish and helps control the population of small invertebrates in tropical rivers.
Collects food in the water column and at the surface.
