The greater argentine is a marine fish with a long body and silvery scales. It lives in the cold waters of the North Atlantic at depths from one hundred to a thousand meters.
The greater argentine differs from related species by its larger size and silvery body color. It is important for nature because it transfers energy from small plankton to large predatory fish and marine mammals.
