The vicuña is a small wild animal from the camel family. It lives high in the Andes mountains of South America and produces the finest and most valuable wool among all mammals.
Vicuña differs from llamas and alpacas with thinner wool and smaller size. It is important for the nature of the Andes because it serves as food for pumas and foxes and helps preserve the plant cover of the mountains.
