berne lark
Бернский жаворонок (Berner Lerche)
Calm, balanced, moderately active. Strong instinct to return home, good orientation. Less timid compared to most carrier and high-flying breeds, gets along well in mixed pigeon lofts.
Berne Lark (Berner Lerche) — a medium-sized fancy breed of domestic pigeon, developed in Switzerland. Compact, elegant conformation, “lark” shape with nearly vertical body carriage, proud posture and characteristic melodious cooing. Weight 260–340 g (ideal 280–310 g), body length 220–260 mm, wingspan 520–580 mm. Head small and rounded, beak thin and straight 18–22 mm, eyes large dark-brown/black, neck elegant, body cylindrical, wings long, tail 70–85 mm of 12 feathers, legs clean red 35–42 mm. Plumage dense, smooth, glossy with metallic sheen on neck and breast. Permitted colors: black (with green-violet sheen), red, blue with bars, silver, yellow. Differs from the base Columba livia by absence of crest/spectacles/feathering on legs, vertical stance and long wings relative to body. Disqualifying faults: white feathers, crest, feathered legs, humped back, excessive tail lift >30°.
