coffee rat
Golunda ellioti
The Indian bush rat, or coffee rat, is a small rodent that lives in bushes and grass in India and Sri Lanka. It often feeds on coffee berries, which is why it got its second name.
The Indian bush rat differs from other rats in that it climbs bushes well and builds nests above the ground. It is important for nature as food for snakes, birds, and small predators, and also participates in seed dispersal of plants.
