Calm, balanced, moderately active. Well oriented toward humans, non-aggressive. Strong homing instinct, excellent flight qualities over medium and long distances.
Groninger Slenke — a medium-sized, strongly elongated and elegant breed of domestic pigeons with an extremely slender "serpentine" silhouette. Weight 260–340 g, body length 380–440 mm, wingspan 680–760 mm. The head is small, narrow, elongated; the neck is very long (110–130 mm), thin, graceful, slightly curved. The body is extremely elongated and narrow, the back is long and straight. The wings are long, the tips extend beyond the tail by 20–35 mm. The tail is long (110–135 mm), narrow, tightly closed with 12 rectrices. The legs are long and thin, the tarsus 38–46 mm. The plumage is dense, smooth, glossy. Acceptable colors: black, blue, red, yellow, silver, smoky (solid and with small white markings). The ideal is a pure solid color with a metallic sheen. It differs from the basic species and other long-necked breeds by its longer thin neck, elongated body, absence of growths and crest, and the smoothest line of the neck and back.
