Frillback
Calm, peaceful, moderately active. Strongly expressed instinct for incubation and care of offspring. Less inclined to flight than most breeds of domestic pigeons. Gets along well in a flock, low aggression.
Frillback (Lockentaube, Frisé, Kudrnáč, Brachypecta) — medium-sized breed of domestic pigeons, bred for pronounced curliness of plumage. Weight of adults: 310–420 g (males 350–420 g, females 310–370 g). Total body length 320–380 mm, wingspan 620–720 mm. Build strong, compact, with wide chest and slightly raised posture. Head of medium size (45–55 mm), rounded. Beak 18–23 mm. Neck short and powerful (65–85 mm). Wings 180–210 mm long, tail 90–115 mm with 12–14 feathers. Legs short (tarsus 28–34 mm). Main feature — feather structure: strongly twisted, narrow barbs on wings, chest, neck and tail, creating a “frise” or lamb’s wool effect. On the head plumage is smooth or slightly curled. Solid colors (black, red, yellow, blue, silver, white) and variegated colors are allowed. Differs from the base type by compact “cubic” build, short thick neck, absence of crest and modified curly feather structure. The bird retains the ability to fly.
