mearns s squirrel
Tamiasciurus mearnsi
Mount Graham's squirrel is a small rodent from the squirrel family. It lives only in high-mountain coniferous forests of one district in northern Mexico and spends almost all its time in trees.
The Merens squirrel has a very small range, occupying only one mountain range. It is important for the forest because it disperses seeds of coniferous trees and serves as food for predators.

The squirrel molts twice a year — in spring and autumn. The winter fur becomes thicker to better protect from the cold.
