arrow flying squirrel
Hylopetes sagitta
The arrow flying squirrel is a small rodent from the squirrel family that inhabits the tropical forests of Southeast Asia. It has a skin membrane between its front and hind legs, thanks to which the animal can glide from tree to tree for tens of meters.
The arrow flying squirrel differs from other squirrels by its ability to glide long distances using a wide skin membrane. It plays an important role in the forest by dispersing plant seeds and serving as prey for predators.
