The Balearic shrew is a small mammal from the shrew family. This is an extinct species that lived only on the islands of Mallorca and Menorca in the Mediterranean Sea.
The Balearic shrew was larger than many mainland shrews due to its life on the island. It played an important role in nature by eating harmful insects and serving as food for predators.
