The Mount Elgon mole-rat is a medium-sized rodent from the murine family. The animal inhabits only the slopes of one mountain in East Africa and feeds on grass.
This species differs from other vole-rats by its limited range only on one mountain and special tooth structure. The animal is important for nature because it eats plants and serves as food for local predators.
