Labord's chameleon is a small species of chameleon that lives only in the dry forests of western Madagascar. It is known for having the shortest lifespan among vertebrates: from hatching to death, only 4–5 months pass.
Labord's chameleon differs from other chameleons in its very short lifespan and rapid growth. It is important for nature because it regulates insect populations in Madagascar's forests and serves as food for birds and snakes.

Theoretical maximum lifespan estimated from the Dynamic Energy Budget (DEB) mathematical model. This value reflects a biological potential derived from metabolic parameters, not from direct observation — real recorded lifespans are often significantly shorter.
