cuban gar
Atractosteus tristoechus
The Cuban gar is a large predatory fish with a long body and very strong scales. It is one of the ancient species that lives only in the fresh waters of Cuba.
The Cuban armored catfish differs from close species in its special pattern of spots and limited distribution only in Cuba. As a large predator, it helps maintain balance in aquatic ecosystems by controlling the population of other fish.
