Kulan, or Asian wild ass, is a wild mammal from the horse family. It lives in dry steppes and semi-deserts of Asia and can run at speeds up to 70 kilometers per hour.
The Kulan differs from domestic donkeys by having longer legs, a short mane, and the ability to live without water for a long time. It is important for nature as a herbivorous animal that serves as food for wolves and helps maintain steppe pastures.
