The white catfish is a freshwater fish with a wide head and light body coloration. It lives in rivers, lakes and ponds in the east of North America and uses long barbels for searching food on the bottom.
The white catfish differs from other catfishes with very light barbels on the chin and more modest sizes. It cleans the bottom of water bodies from remains and serves as food for larger predatory fish.
Uses whiskers to find prey in the dark or silt, then quickly captures it with a large mouth
Immature form that undergoes metamorphosis before adulthood.
