The pygmy filefish, or Stephanolepis setifer, is a very small marine fish up to 10 centimeters long. It has rough skin and the ability to change body color for camouflage among algae.
Unlike its larger relatives, the dwarf filefish has a tiny size and lives hidden among dense thickets. It helps maintain the balance of the marine ecosystem by eating algae and small invertebrates.
Immature form that undergoes metamorphosis before adulthood.
