Tules is a medium-sized migratory bird from the sandpiper family. It nests in the Arctic tundra and spends winter on sea coasts in different parts of the world.
The tule plover differs from other plovers by its black belly in breeding plumage and characteristic whistling call. It is important for nature because it eats many invertebrates and serves as food for predators in the tundra and on coasts.
