Estuarine sea catfish
Cathorops aguadulce
Estuarine sea catfish, or Cathorops aguadulce, is a fish from the Ariidae family. It lives in brackish water of estuaries and rivers of Central America, and males incubate eggs in their mouths.
Unlike most catfishes, this species is distinguished by the male fully caring for the eggs and fry in his mouth. It is important for the nature of estuaries because it eats small animals and serves as food for larger fish and birds.
