apurimac spinetail
Synallaxis courseni
The Apurimac spinetail is a small bird of the ovenbird family. It lives only in the mountains of Peru in the Apurimac River valley and feeds on insects.
The Apurimac spinetail differs from other spinetails by its special stiff tail feathers and a very small habitat range. It helps maintain the balance of insects in the dry shrubs of Peru and itself serves as food for local predators.
