Sperata singala is a large predatory fish from the family of pimelodid catfishes. It inhabits rivers of South Asia and can reach a length of more than one meter.
Sperata singala differs from related catfishes by its very long barbels and powerful spiny rays in the fins. It is important for nature because it controls the population of small fish and maintains balance in river ecosystems.
Legendary longevity: over 100 years. Galapagos tortoises, Greenland sharks, ocean quahogs celebrate with family once every 4 years
