The platypus oceanic eel is a deep-sea fish with a long thin body and an elongated head in the shape of a duck's beak. It lives in the open ocean at great depths where there is almost no light.
The platypus oceanic eel differs from other eels by its very long flat snout and life at great depths. It is important for nature as part of the deep ocean food chain: it eats small animals and itself becomes food for large fish.
