Paretroplus damii
Pareutropius dambensis, or damba, is a freshwater fish from the cichlid family. It lives only in the rivers and lakes of northwest Madagascar and has a tall body with dark vertical stripes.
The Damba differs from closely related species in the number of scales in the lateral line and the brightness of the stripes. It is important for nature because it controls algae growth in Madagascar's water bodies and serves as part of the local food chain.
