The Diotima nymph is a small hummingbird with bright iridescent plumage. It lives only in the mountains of Venezuela and feeds on flower nectar.
The Merida woodnymph differs from other hummingbirds by the special purple throat of males and a limited range in the Merida mountains. It is important as a pollinator of local flowers.
