Notothenia angustata, or the Maori chief, is a marine benthic fish from the nototheniid family. It lives in cold waters off the coasts of New Zealand and feeds on other animals.
The Māori chief differs from related species by its large head and dark body coloration. It plays an important role in the marine ecosystem as a predator that controls the population of small animals.
Locomotion through water employed while searching for or capturing prey.
Legendary longevity: over 100 years. Galapagos tortoises, Greenland sharks, ocean quahogs celebrate with family once every 4 years
Immature form that undergoes metamorphosis before adulthood.
