Eptatretus okinoseanus is a deep-sea jawless hagfish. It lives on the bottom of the Pacific Ocean near Japan and secretes a lot of mucus for protection.
Eptatretus okinoseanus differs from related hagfishes by the exact number of gill pores and the depth of its habitat. It is important for nature as a cleaner of the sea floor from remains of dead animals.
