manx shearwater
Puffinus puffinus
The common shearwater is a medium-sized seabird. It spends almost its entire life flying over the ocean and comes to shore only to raise its chicks.
The common shearwater differs from related species by the clear contrast of black upper body and white underbody and very long narrow wings. It is important for nature because it transfers nutrients from the sea to land and serves as food for large predators.
