Melamphaes longivelis is a small deep-sea fish from the cresthead family. It lives in the dark layers of the ocean and has large eyes and large scales.
This comb-head differs with long ventral fin rays and easily shed scales. It transports substances from the upper layers of the ocean to the depths and serves as food for large predators.
